The Nigerian Passport Renewal Process, Step by Step
From free pre-check to passport delivery at your door — with every payment and every clock named.
Step 1: Free Pre-Check & Written Cost Summary
Tell us your situation on WhatsApp or through the form: renewal or reissue, adult or child, NIN status, travel deadline. We confirm the correct route and send one written cost summary — our fee and every official charge listed separately — the same working day.
Key considerations:
- Correct route confirmed: renewal, reissue, child, loss, correction or NIN
- Likely documents and rejection risks flagged before you spend anything
- Written cost summary: our £50 fee plus official charges, listed separately
- Consent to handle your identity documents, explained before any upload
Step 2: Document Review & NIS Online Form
You share scans through our approved encrypted transfer workflow (or WhatsApp after we explain its risks and you consent) — never open chat. We return one numbered correction list, then we complete your NIS application using your documents, and check every detail against your NIN before submitting. You review and approve the finished application first — then we submit it on your behalf.
Key considerations:
- Approved encrypted transfer workflow — no passport scans in open WhatsApp chat
- One numbered correction list within two working days of a complete upload
- NIS form completed and submitted on your behalf; you approve every declaration before we submit
- NIN name-order, middle-name and date-of-birth check against your passport
Step 3: You Pay Official Fees Directly
The official NIS fee — $162 for a 5-year 32-page booklet or $242 for a 10-year 64-page booklet, each including the $12 gateway charge — plus the £20 High Commission administrative charge (per the September 2026 notice) are paid by you, with your own card, on the official portals. We guide the payment step-by-step via chat and email, and copy every receipt into your case folder.
Key considerations:
- You pay with your own card on the official NIS portal — we never see card details, PINs or one-time codes
- Step-by-step payment guidance via WhatsApp or live chat
- Payment Slip & Acknowledgment Slip saved to your case folder and sent immediately
- Failed payment? We check portal status and the payment reference before any retry
Step 4: Book Your Nigerian Passport Renewal Appointment
Your renewal appointment in the UK is booked by you, through the official system only. The centre shown on your confirmation is the one you attend — currently the Nigeria High Commission in London for UK applicants. We help you watch release cycles and prepare the booking dossier, and we never sell or reserve slots.
Key considerations:
- Booked by you, only through the official booking system
- Centre, date and applicant name verified against your confirmation
- Slot-release timing guidance and calendar alerts — no slot selling, ever
- Family or minor appointments coordinated together where possible
Step 5: Attend Biometrics in Person
Biometrics for Nigerian passport renewals in London (or your confirmed centre) cannot be captured remotely: ten digital fingerprints and a high-resolution facial photograph, taken by the authority itself. You attend once, carrying the pre-sorted document pack and the one-page checklist we send 48 hours before.
Key considerations:
- One-page checklist sent 48 hours before attendance
- Document pack arranged in the exact order the desk expects
- Dress code and arrival guidance for the centre
- Fingerprints and facial photo captured by the authority, in person
Step 6: Government Processing & Return Delivery
The official processing clock starts after successful biometric enrolment: the NIS 2026 service standard states 21 days for a renewal or reissue and 42 days for a fresh passport. Your passport then returns by the pre-paid Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope you handed over — or by collection as advised — with tracking guidance from us until it arrives.
Key considerations:
- Government clock: 21 days (reissue) or 42 days (fresh) after successful enrolment
- Extra checks, corrections or peak seasons can extend it — we tell you early
- Return by your pre-paid Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope, or collection as advised
- Track & Trace and portal status guidance until the booklet is in your hands
How Long Does Nigerian Passport Renewal Take in the UK?
Honestly: it depends on four separate clocks. Only the first one is ours — and we never add them together into one promised date.
The government clock is outside our control and starts only after successful biometric enrolment. Extra checks, corrections, incomplete documents and peak seasons can extend any case. Anyone guaranteeing a total delivery date is misleading you — we quote each clock separately, in writing.
