Lost Nigerian Passport UK — Replace Lost or Damaged Passports

Need to replace a lost passport or damaged passport in the UK? A lost Nigerian passport in the UK cannot be treated as a standard renewal. The High Commission requires specific evidence — including a UK police report, loss declaration or affidavit, and identity verification — before issuing a replacement booklet. We help you organise all documentation correctly to minimise extra-check delays and avoid refusal.

What Our Lost Passport Support Includes

We are a private, independent support service. We do not issue passports, alter government records, reserve appointments or guarantee an outcome.

Case classification

We distinguish lost, stolen, damaged and expired cases so you start from the correct official category — each has different evidence requirements and penalty structures.

Document checklist

Police report, affidavit or declaration, identity evidence and any surviving passport details — matched to your specific situation and the current official route.

NIN and identity cross-check

Names, date of birth and passport details compared before the reissue route is prepared, preventing portal rejections from data mismatches.

Biometrics preparation

A practical appointment-day checklist with document order, dress code and return-envelope specifications — no promise about appointment availability or government processing.

Official route identification

We confirm whether your case requires standard reissue, emergency travel document, or a full new application with additional security checks.

Penalty fee guidance

Lost passport administrative penalties explained and mapped to your case — we identify which charges apply before you pay anything.

How a Lost or Damaged Case Runs

Four stages, all remote until your one in-person appointment.

1

Tell us what happened

When the passport went missing or got damaged, and which identity documents you still have. We confirm the correct reissue category and an estimated timeline the same working day.

2

We list the documents for your case

You receive a written checklist of exactly what your category needs — police report, affidavit or declaration, identity proofs, photos — with the exact specification for each item.

3

We prepare the correct reissue application

We complete and submit the official application from your documents; you pay every government charge directly in your own name. We guide each step and confirm payment settlement before you book anything.

4

Your appointment-day checklist

We check your pack before the appointment and send a one-page checklist 48 hours before you attend — document order, dress code, return envelope. The official centre makes the final decision on your case.

Documents We May Need to Discuss

An initial checklist, not a guarantee of the authority's final requirements. We confirm the route after reviewing your circumstances.

  • Any surviving Nigerian passport, copy or passport number
  • NIN slip and a consistent proof of identity
  • Police crime reference or report where applicable
  • Sworn affidavit or loss declaration where the official route requires it
  • Proof of address and evidence explaining the circumstances
  • Official payment and appointment documents once generated
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs meeting current specifications

Loss cases follow the same presentation rules — see the full Nigerian passport renewal requirements checklist.

Keep sensitive details out of first contact. Do not send full passport numbers, payment details, PINs or one-time codes in the form or first WhatsApp message. Start with a summary of the situation; we explain the next safe step.

Why Lost Passport Applications Get Refused

The six failure modes specific to lost or damaged cases — and exactly how each one is prevented.

Missing or incomplete police report

A lost or stolen passport requires a UK police report with a valid crime reference number. Missing this report or providing an incomplete one stops the application at reception.

How we prevent it: We identify whether your case requires a full crime report or a loss report, and specify exactly what details the report must contain before you visit the police station.

Affidavit not properly sworn

An affidavit signed without a Commissioner for Oaths, or missing required declarations, is rejected as invalid evidence — wasting your visit and the appointment slot.

How we prevent it: We specify the exact wording and format the affidavit must follow, and confirm which authority can legally administer the oath for your case type.

NIN details don't match identity evidence

When your NIN slip shows different names, date of birth, or spelling than your supporting identity documents, the portal validation fails and biometrics are refused.

How we prevent it: We compare your NIN against all identity documents character-by-character before the application proceeds, and prepare NIMC correction paperwork where details conflict.

Unpaid loss penalty fee

Lost passports carry an administrative penalty fee separate from the standard reissue charge. Missing this payment means no acknowledgment slip and no appointment booking.

How we prevent it: We identify which penalty fees apply to your specific case, confirm the current amount with you at pre-check, and guide the payment on the official portal before you book.

Insufficient identity evidence

A single form of ID when multiple are required, or expired identity documents, causes the verification desk to refuse the application — even with a valid police report.

How we prevent it: Your checklist specifies exactly which identity documents are acceptable, how recent they must be, and whether originals or certified copies are required for your case.

Wrong reissue category selected

Selecting 'standard renewal' when your case is actually 'lost with security checks' voids the application and forfeits the fee paid — the category cannot be changed after submission.

How we prevent it: We classify your case during the free pre-check and confirm the correct official category before any payment is made, preventing costly category errors.

Questions About This Route

Plain answers — no promises, no shortcuts.

No. We provide independent preparation and guidance only. The Nigerian authorities decide the reissue route, evidence and outcome. Our job is to make certain your file is complete and correctly categorised before you attend biometrics.

It depends on the circumstances and the official instructions for your case. A lost passport typically requires a UK police loss report; a stolen passport requires a full crime report with reference number. We identify what the current official route asks for — we do not invent requirements.

No. Lost and damaged passport cases can require extra security checks, and standard timings do not apply. We never guarantee approval, an appointment slot or a government processing time. What we guarantee is that your file is complete and correctly categorised before you attend.

The timeline has several separate clocks: our evidence review (3–5 working days after complete documents), official NIS loss verification (variable and case-dependent), appointment availability (variable), and NIS processing after enrolment (21 days standard, but loss cases can take longer due to security checks). We quote each clock separately — anyone promising a total delivery date is misleading you.

Lost passports carry an administrative penalty fee in addition to the standard reissue charge. The current penalty amount is confirmed with you at the free pre-check and paid by you directly on the official portal — never through us. We identify which charges apply to your specific case before anything is paid.

In urgent cases where you cannot wait for a full passport reissue, the Nigeria High Commission may issue an Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) for one-way travel to Nigeria only. We can advise whether your situation qualifies and what evidence is required — but ETCs are not substitutes for full passport renewals.

Bring the damaged booklet to your biometrics appointment. Damaged passports follow a different route than lost passports, with different evidence requirements and typically faster processing. We classify your case correctly during the free pre-check so you pay the right fees and bring the right evidence.

The passport reissue process does not transfer visas to the new booklet. You will need to contact the relevant embassies to transfer or reapply for visas separately. We focus on the Nigerian passport reissue; visa transfers are handled by the issuing countries.

Never upfront. You approve one written cost summary after the free pre-check: our flat £50 application-support fee (invoiced to us) plus the official charges — reissue fee, loss penalty (where applicable), and the £20 High Commission admin charge — which you pay directly on the official NIS and High Commission portals, receipts in your name. Variable costs like affidavit fees are quoted first and labelled as variable.
